POULTRY RESEARCH STATION

Poultry Research Station was established in the year 1941. It became a constituent unit of Tamil Nadu Veterinary and Animal Sciences University from 20.09.1989.

Mandate

  • To carry out research on breeding, nutrition, management and disease prevention in poultry and to develop poultry suitable to Tamilnadu
  • To training students and farmers
  • To supply research inputs like incubated eggs, chicks, feed and birds
  • To popularise poultry husbandry among the public
  •  

EXTENSION PROGRAMMES
The research station has a farm advisory cell, which guides the poultry farmers approaching with various poultry related problems.

Training Programmes:

  • Japanese quail farming – Second week of every month (Monday to Friday) – 5 days duration.
  • Turkey production – Fourth week of every month (Monday to Friday) - 5 days duration.

Besides the above, special programmes were also conducted regularly for entrepreneurs, which include Quail farming, Turkey farming, Pre release training for defense personal, Feed mixing, Flock health, Hatchery and Breeding flock management.
