        Background :
Mr.K.G.Manoharan of Sankagiri village is a marginal farmer initially reared desi birds. In his enterprise, he found the hatchability of eggs by using brooding hens is very low.
         Interventions :
He approached to our KVK and suitably advised to design the incubator with scientific specifications Process :
He designed and made small homestead incubators (capacity 150 nos. of eggs) and started selling to the needy farmers. The hatchability in this incubator was found to be 75-85%. He is selling @ Rs.8,500/ incubator. By his contribution to the backyard poultry farmers, the hatchability has improved at farmer’s field and also enables them to get good quality proven chicks.
